I am a retired court reporter now working part time as a proofreader. In December 2010 I returned to my roots in Deep East Texas to care for my aging mother after having lived in Arizona for over 30 years. I live on a farm in Nacogdoches County near the Louisiana border. This blog is a repository for pictures of subjects that I find interesting in my travels up and down the country roads throughout the Piney Woods. I love to take pictures of farm animals and equipment, old houses, barns and sheds and anything that has vines or rust on it.

That is gorgeous!! I didn't realize there was so much red to them also. Very well done, Kathy.
Beautiful shot of a lovely flower.
Blue is my favorite color.
Have a nice week

What pretty flowers! I've never heard of them. They probably don't grow in this area.
So pretty and vivid!
Great close up.
Have a nice week Kathy.

I have red hair and when I was a teenager I had a purple dress and was told 'that clashes'.
Seems nature approves. :)
Lovely photo!!
Beautiful. Don't suppose it would winter over well in Indiana.
Now I know its name! I have seen these so many times but do not know the name.
They are really beautiful purples! Great photo!
These flowers remind me of living near the ocean. They grow all over the coast line and make the best sound when the ocean breeze blows through them.
