Chef Leslie

I went out to Leslie's new home for the evening. John was away for the weekend so we had a girls' night in. Grilling steaks with asparagus and tomatoes, a great bottle of cab sav, and lots of yakety-yak!

Special People

My oldest friend Judy (oops, I meant to say my longest friend Judy) came for a short visit today. She and husband Butch drove all the way from Houston just so she could spend a couple hours with me. He was even good enough to go hang out somewhere else so she and I could have some girl time. Judy and I met in the first grade and were best friends during all our growing-up years. We even went to Brownie Scout camp together when we were about nine. It was such an adventure (although the camp was only about three miles from Judy's house, we thought we were at the ends of the earth). We were just as cute and talented and smart as all those girls from Tyler and Longview! I have decided that Judy is really Meryl Streep in real life and that she just works for Shell Oil Company and hangs out with Butch as a ruse to avoid the papparazzi!

Today was Mother's 88th Birthday! Doesn't she look great! I was tickling her to make her smile!

All That Glitters

Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend
Leslie and John are back from a honeymoon in Alaska and today I got to oogle at all the diamonds she's sporting on the third finger of her left hand!

TV Star

I Knew Her When ...
My old friend Star is definitely a TV star. I've noticed her commercial for Bayer aspirin several times in the past few weeks. This is about the third round of her commercial over the past year or so. Ka-ching, ka-ching. Star is a survivor of a heart attack and is very active in educating the public on women's heart disease. You go, Girl!

Kathy and Lynn

45 Years of Friendship

It’s okay to include yourself in a few pictures or to even let somebody else take a turn at your camera. That way you’ll have a record of what you looked like on a given day! On second thought, maybe not such a good idea. Lynn was my best friend in college. We were in each other’s weddings. She will begin her 42nd year of teaching first grade in a couple of weeks.
