Lufkin Mural
This is one of five large murals painted in downtown Lufkin commemorating the history of the city. Coca-Cola signs were abundant back in the '30s and '40s in this area. This photograph only shows about half of the mural, but because of a big ugly black dumpster parked right in front of the other portion, it was impossible for me to get a picture of the whole thing. Another mural was portrayed on this blog back on March 25 and the post of March 21 was dedicated to the Pines Theater which is also depicted in this piece.

That is beautiful! I love the Coke truck.
Looks very well maintained. Do they repaint and touch up?
Neat. I like how you included the people that were painted behind the coke truck. I just love when you go ramblin' and share your photos!
Such a lost art. Buildings are so boring anymore, but not this one.
Wow, this is a gorgeous mural and so well cared for. The colors are so vibrant.
I like murals, they brighten up an otherwise plain wall. This one is so detailed and colorful. Very nice.
It's so pretty. Boo! on the ugly, black dumpster!
Too bad about the black dumpster...and how frustrating for photographers!
How interesting that Coca-Cola has had such a strong influence on beverage drinkers for all these years.
Beautiful mural. The artist did a great job capturing downtown life.
Is that crime scene tape on the tree to the left? Or maybe they have plans for removing the ugly dumpster!
Love it! What a great mark of a different time and place!
