Hello from Arizona!

Yesterday my friends Magpie (of In Over My Head) and Tracy (of Life Is A Road Trip) spent the day at Wildlife World Zoo in Litchfield Park, Arizona.  One of our big treats was seeing this tiny baby DeBrazza's monkey who we learned had been born four days before!  If you look really closely you may be able to see the fingernails on its hand clutching mom's fur.  The photo is a bit fuzzy in places because it was shot through a chain-link fence.  I was amazed it turned out at all.

Living in a High-Rise

And, oh, what a view!

Tomorrow morning my computer goes into the shop for some much needed R&R,
a little rehab, maybe a shot or two, and just a rest.
On Saturday I leave for Arizona for a couple of weeks so posting may be sporadic for a time.
I'll try to drop by and visit you and maybe even post once in a while,
but in the meantime, consider me on my own R&R!

Hungry Donkey

This picture was taken last winter during the throes of our drought.  This donkey was having a hard time finding anything to eat.  Many donkeys in Texas have been abandoned because their owners could not afford to feed them.  Even though we have had good rains during the fall and thus far into the winter, people smarter than I have not yet declared the drought to be over.  We're hoping and praying it is and that all animals, including donkeys, will again have green grass to eat.

Hokey Pokey

Caldwell Zoo
Tyler, Texas

You put your left foot in
You put your left foot out
You put your left foot in
and you shake it all about
You do the hokey pokey
and you turn yourself around
That's what it's all about!

Fulton Fuller Polled Herefords

Martinsville, Texas

Fulton Fuller introduced the hornless polled Hereford to this area in the 1930s.  His old barn still stands as a tribute to his contribution to the ranching industry in East Texas.  He died at the age of 102 in 1991.

Boys Playing War

Even Civil War reenactees need a lunch break for a burger and a soda!
Did I call him a boy?
I think of any male who is probably younger than I as a boy!

Picnic Under the Pines

I don't think there were any picnics here in Deep East Texas today.  We've had rain the past 24 hours, some it quite heavy, with the forecast for continuing rain through Tuesday evening.  But we're not complaining!
