A Shopper's Delight
There is a little town 40 miles southwest of Ft. Worth which has kept its economy alive by catering to shoppers. Granbury is only a town of about 8,000 but practically every square inch of it is thriving as a shopper's mecca when so many other small towns in Texas are just slowly dying as they lose their industry and their retail business. I can think of several towns that could learn some lessons from Granbury. When I first drove into town I thought there was some kind of festival going on. I couldn't find a place to park anywhere near the courthouse square - and that's why I was there, to photograph the courthouse. I finally stopped and asked a young lady who was serving as a hostess at a patio-style restaurant what was all the action about. She seemed genuinely surprised at my question and said it was like that every day. After I looked around I could see what was happening. I fell in love with all the unique boutiques and would love to go back for a real shopping trip someday. And there were cute signs all over the place!

i've never been there, but used to work with someone whose folks lived there. she loved going to their place. now i know why.
If you go, Tex, stop and pick me up because I love places like this myself.
Great photos, especially the '20s girl!

Love the poster and this looks like a great store. No, no photo's of Annie, they did not allow it.
A great place to visit. Happy Valentine's Day to you!
looks like snapper heaven to me. i like that sign with the crescent moon.
I would love to visit there!
Sounds like they have the magic touch. Good for them. It also looks like a good place to browse the shops and have a bite to eat. For some reason it makes me think of another little town that I think is a little closer to Ft. Worth called Grapevine. I remember going there when I visited a friend who lives in Ft. Worth.
Sounds a bit like Jerome!!
This is so cute.
Love the signs.
Great and colorful photos Kathy! Would love to visit here someday!
I am glad to see they found a niche and are thriving.
That looks like fun shopping! (I'm not much for big-box stores and malls ...they make me tired, but this kind of shopping is fun!)...Love the idea of a girls night out trip to a place like this.
We've stayed a few times in or near Fredericksburg Texas which is a little bit like this, in that it is a tiny town where all the cute little shops and restaurants always seem real busy. It has a German theme.
Looks like a fun place to browse and people watch.
Hi Kathy,
really, there are folks going to this place not because of its courthouse?
:-) I also can imagine to go there for the nice signs. Ok, and if need be, for shopping.
Liebe Grüße,
Pia
