Old Mobil station - Gonzales, Texas

One of the finest of the restored Magnolia gas stations can be found in Gonzales, Texas. This one was built in 1936 and continued operation until the early 1970's.  It housed a variety of businesses after that time but appears to perhaps be vacant today, although in tip-top shape.  The turret of one of Gonzales' many historic homes can be seen above the roofline.

I love it. and that Pegasus on the top is worth a lot of money.. i saw a tv show that a person turned one very much like this into a home to live in. this would be great for that. leave the outside like it is and fix up the inside.

There was a gas station close to my home in Illinois that looked a lot like this complete with the flying red horse.

I'm waiting for the bell to ring and the serviceman to hop out check the oil and wash my windshield. An era that ain't coming back soon.

And gas stations are not what they used to be. It seems they are all some kind of mini mart now. SO this is a photo of the past for sure.

That's amazing! It looks brand new. I was thinking someone could restore that place into a small home:)

Some business person with imagination could turn this into a charming building. . .that is, if the location would generate enough traffic to make the business successful.

I was thinking this might have been used as a movie setting.

That is a wonderful find! You don't see these old gas stations in such good repair. This would make a nice framed print.

LOVE this! Reminds me of one in Giddings that was turned into an antique shop. Did you post a photo of it? Seems like I remember.
