This "Blast from the Past" in Fayetteville, Texas, looks like it's closed its doors at least for the second time.
In the 1950s my grandparents had a country store and a single gasoline pump. If my granddad had gone to town and someone came and wanted gas,
my grandmother would go out and pump it for them.
The self-serve concept did not take hold until the 1970s.
Of course she thought it was beneath her and hated doing it
and she always gave him hell about it
when he got home.
He of course ignored the whole situation and just turned deaf ears
to her ranting and raving.
Unlike the gas stations of yesteryear,
men haven't changed a bit.

brahahah on the men not changing. i love this old building and it would make a great shop or store even without gas...
What a beautiful old building. It has so much potential. It would make a great cafe or coffee shop. I remember very well how my dad would pull into a gas station and the attendants would run out immediately to pump the gas and wash the windshield.
Wonder if your grandmother put air in the tires? I sure miss all that service.
laughing at your commentary!!!! :)
