Spring?

With a low temperature last night of 23 degrees, it's hard to say that spring has arrived here in Deep East Texas, but with highs tomorrow promised in the 60s and then the 70s on Saturday we're ready to say that spring is here.  And we have plenty of signs to prove it!

Knobby-kneed baby calves are exploring their new world and can often be seen kicking up their heels in the greening meadows and pastures.

Fragrant paper whites are among the first flowers to bloom.  Their sickeningly sweet, perfumed aroma can sometimes be overpowering.

When you come across daffodils and jonquils in lonely areas throughout the countryside you know you're on the site of a once-loved but now gone home, one where the lady of the house lovingly tended gardens of spring flowers and summer vegetables.

Japanese magnolias are in full bloom, littering the floor beneath them with fragile heavenly pink blossoms.

Those are all sure signs of warmer weather to come. That tree is so beautiful and who doesn't love daffodils.

When I see magnolias and narcissus I think spring has arrived. These shots make me think spring may actually be working it's way north. We're still in a deep freeze here.

Oh my goodness, I just love that baby calf, and those magnolias are gorgeous, Kathy.

It is still below zero here, so it's going to be a while before we begin to see signs of spring. Hopefully a shorter rather than longer while. :-)

Have a great weekend!

We are seeing those pink magnolias, but not much else! This winter has really overstayed its welcome. LOVE the black and white calf. What a sweet little thing.

Oh... I can't wait for that Magnolia out front to start blooming. Long cold winter hear and it is still snowing.
