A Lazy Sunday Afternoon
A sunny but somewhat cool Sunday afternoon found this family of Brahman cattle (also called Brahma and oftentimes in this area of the world pronounced "Bremmer") relaxing near the road amidst henbit weed and jonquils in bloom. You might noticed that the two little calves in the foreground are white-faced Herefords. Before "Angus beef" became a buzz word a few years ago a large percentage of the beef from East Texas came from hybrids of Brahman-Hereford breeds. Now we see a lessening of the Black Angus and an increasing population of Charolais (pronounced SHARE-oh-LAY), the white cattle with a French origin. So what will McDonald's be advertising two years from now? White Beef Burgers?

Oh, how I LOVE these floppy eared cows! Cute little calves too!
They are so cute. Wish I had an afternoon as relaxing.
Oh, such cute little calves! I hope I never see them on a bun...
They sure have a pretty name!
I love floppy ears on the Brahman cattle. I saw a lot of those in Costa Rica when I visited there.
I like the looks of the Brahman cattle. My husband calls them Braymer. Something left over from his cowboy days.
Are the Brahman related to cows revered in India? They have an interesting hump.
This is too cool! I love it!
When we first moved here, we raised a couple of calves. I got to name one, not really thinking it all the way through. So after awhile we were having Biff burgers. Yes, I ate them.
Love the gathering!
