Up, up the long, delirious burning blue 347/365
Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds, — and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of — wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there,
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air. . . .
Up, up the long, delirious burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, or ever eagle flew —
And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.
High Flight
John Gillespie Magee, Jr.
As I winged my way eastward my thoughts and my view from my camera reminded me of this wonderful poem.

Wait a minute! This looks like a promotional picture for Southwest! You should send this to them! AMAZING.
Amazing photo!!
Lovely photo, Kathy. Welcome home! Magpie and I were just wondering about you the other day.
Wow! Great shot! Love the red and blue against the clouds!
Now that is one of the best out the plane window photos I have seen. Really...it is so clear and nicely composed.
You got a good picture here, Kathy. We like Southwest and try to use it if it goes where we want. Most places Southwest are hooked into Houson, our place of departure.
I liked your East Texas pictures and hope you post some more. I went through Nacogdoches (around it really) this July 21 on my way to get Adi (meme). She was staying with my in-laws in Farmerville, Louisiana (north of Rustin).
Happy MW Blues. :) Thank you for your visit. Please do come back again. I hope to post our holiday in the Baltics and London stuff at least once a week.
..
Amazing shot! Clear and vibrant. I did a similar one some time back :)

Hmmm yes it's really amazing!...nice blue color too...
Nice shot. And Magee's line is a perfect fit. Every (military) pilot I know is familiar with the poem. Many a time, after the preflight briefing, I (and countless others) have quipped, "Okay then, let's go slip the surlies."
