I am a retired court reporter now working part time as a proofreader. In December 2010 I returned to my roots in Deep East Texas to care for my aging mother after having lived in Arizona for over 30 years. I live on a farm in Nacogdoches County near the Louisiana border. This blog is a repository for pictures of subjects that I find interesting in my travels up and down the country roads throughout the Piney Woods. I love to take pictures of farm animals and equipment, old houses, barns and sheds and anything that has vines or rust on it.

He is a beauty!!! I had a yellow one (Eastern Tiger?) on my lantana last week. He lit on every single bloom.
What a beauty.

Just beautiful! That is another one that I don't see here. It's almost the opposite color combination as our Tigers.
Beautiful!
All those colors to brighten up our daily lives!
Wow, these are gorgeous shots. Very nicely done.
Super shots of the Giant Swallowtail! I've never seen one around here so they must be Southern beauties.
Oh my goodness, those are so sharp! Quite nice.
For sure! It's butterfly season.
Absolutely stunning! You would never know that it had tiny red spots under its wings but for a photo like this! What beautiful macros, Kathy!
Oh stunning the butterfly in all its glory.
I love the old beer Junker.
